Adi Kailash / Om Parvat

Adi Kailash, also known as Shiva Kailash, Chota Kailash, Baba Kailash or Jonglingkong Peak, is a mountain located in the Himalayan Mountain range near Om Parvat, in the Pithoragarh District of Uttarakhand, India. Both Adi Kailash and Om Parvat are considered sacred by Hindus. Adi Kailash is an ancient holy place in the Himalayan Range, similar to Mount Kailash in Tibet. This abode of Lord Shiva ina remote area is worth to have a Darshan. Trekking to Adi Kailash in the Himalayan ranges of Kumaun region near the Indo Tibetan Border in district Pithoragarh. The pilgrimage to Chota Kailash located at a height of 5,945 metres in Vyas valley of Uttarakhands Pithoragarh district runs parallel to the Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra, beginning and concluding around the same time every year. The road for Kailash-Mansarovar and Chota Kailash bifurcate from Gunji with visitors bound for the former moving eastward and those for the latter moving westward.

The Adi Kailash or Chota Kailash is located in a different direction, near Sin La pass and near Brahma Parvat, the base camp of Adi Kailash is 17 km from the Kutti village at sacred Jolingkong Lake with Lord Shiva temple. Om Parvat can be viewed in route to the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra from the last camp below Lipulekh Pass at Nabhidhang India-China border post protected by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police also has Public Works Department guest house on the Indian side. Many trekkers to Adi Kailash often make a diversion to view Om Parvat. Om Parvat is located near Nabhi Dhang camp on Mount Kailash-Lake Manasarovar yatra route.

Trek Route: Haldwani / Tanakpur - Dharchula -Pangu - Sirkha - Galgad - Malpa - Budhi - Gunji - Navidang - Gunji - Kutti - Jollingkong - Adi Kailash

Day 00 : Delhi to Tanakpur Railway station

Day 01 : Tanakpur to Dharchula (239 km)

by road Arrival at Darchula by evening. On arriving check-in at a hotel, have dinner and enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 02 : Dharchula - Pangu (2250 mts/7380 ft) 19 km by road / 9 km trek

The morning after breakfast drive to Tawaghat, from here we will start our day 1 trek to Pangu, a Bhotia village. The trek passes through the alluring valley. Upon reaching have scrumptious dinner and an overnight stay at the camp.

Day 03 : Pangu - Sirkha (2440 mts/78004 ft) 8 km trek

In the morning we will trek down to Juyntigad. After a steep ascent reaches Sasa Village. The gradual climb is up to Tihalakot. Here is also a small Bhotiya village. By evening reach Sirkha ground. This is an ideal camping site. Have dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

Day 04 : Sirkha - Galgad (2315 mts/7594 ft) 14 km trek

In the morning trek for 2 km down Samurai. From here a steep stony climb through the thick forests of Sumariya - Dhar (3048 mts/9998 ft). On the top, there are so many stone boulders with ags. From here you will enter in a thick forest to the stream Simkhola gad. After a few minutes, you will enter Galla village and Jipti. Again, you can see Kali River which is missing from Tawaghat. Reach Galad by evening, have dinner and overnight stay at Galagad in tents.

Day 05 : Galgad - Malpa (10 km trek)

In the morning after breakfast trek to Malpa. Today the trek is dicult up to Garang. There is a steep down up to the Kali River. After a few hrs, the trek we will nd a beautiful Najang waterfall. It's almost 100 feet high. After a zigzag trek, we will reach Malpa, nish the day with a nutritious dinner and have an overnight stay in the cozy tents.

Day 06 : Malpa - Budhi (2740 mts/8988 ft) 8 km trek/ 4-5 hrs

In the morning after breakfast set out for another challenging trek. You will nd the lush green valley, murmuring waterfalls falling like a shower. In the last couple of hrs, we will trek a steep ascent till Budhi Village. Have dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 07 : Budhi - Gungi (3220 mts/10562) 17 km trek/5-6 hrs

In the morning after breakfast start your trek with a steep climb to Chhiyalekh. Today we will also trek through the lush green valley lled with plentiful wildowers. Today you can see also a glimpse of Mt. Annapurna and other Himalayan peaks. The trek is full of thrill with its beauty. Arrive at Gungi by evening, have dinner and overnight stay in the tents.

Day 8 : Gunji - Kutti (3600 mts/11808 ft) 18 km trek/5-6 hrs

In the morning trek up to Kutti follow to Kutti River. Here you will nd high altitude forest of Bhojpatra (Betula Utilis). Admire a magnicent view of the Api and Nampa peaks. Kutti is the last village on this trek which is inhabited by the Bhotia tribes. Kutti is named after Kunti (Mother of the Pandavas) in the epic Mahabharata. Dinner and overnight stay in tents at Kutti a check post of ITBP (Indo-Tibet Border Police). Dinner and overnight in tent/Fiber Huts in Jollingkong.

Day 9 : Kutti - Jollingkong 4572 mts/14996 ft) 14 km trek/4-5 hrs

In the morning start your trek to reach Jollingkong. It's the last stretch of the trek to reach the base of Holy Mt Adi Kailash (6191 mts/20307 ft). Arrive at Jollingkong by evening. Here is a check post of ITBP (Indo-Tibet Border Police). Have dinner and overnight in tent/ber huts in Jollingkong.

Day 10 : Jollingkong - Adi Kailash / Jollingkong 4 km trek

In the morning trek to Mt. Adi Kailash. One can see Parvati Lake also. After spending a couple of hrs trace back your feet to Jollingkong. Have dinner and overnight stay in tents/ber huts in Jollingkong.

Day 11 : Jollingkong - Kutti 14 km trek

In the morning trackback to Kutti. Have dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 12 : Kutti - Gunji 19 km

trek Trek back to Gunji. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 13 : Gunji - Budhi 17 km trek

After breakfast trek to Budhi. Have dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 14 : Budhi - Malpa 8 km trek

Trek to Malpa. Enjoy your dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 15 : Malpa - Galgad 10 km trek

In the morning trek to Galgad. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 16: Galgad -Sirkha 14 km trek

Trek to Sirkha. Have dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 18: Sirkha - Dharchula 17 km trek / 19 km by road

In the morning trek to Tawaghat followed by a drive to Darchula. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel in Dharchula.

On the last day of the trek, you will take a bus transfer that will take you to Kathgodam, where the trip will conclude. You can then take your return journey, bringing the experience to an end.Back driver to Kathgodam from Dharchula and carry back memorable moments.

Chipla Kedar

Chipla Kedar trek is one of the most exciting and challenging, not yet commercialized treks of Kumaon Himalayas of Uttarakhand. The trek reaches an altitude of 5200 meters above sea level. This is a pilgrimage trek which offers beautiful scenic views of high altitude meadows and Himalayas during the trek. Various peaks of Nepal Himalayas are also visible during the trek as well.

The dhami burha or bonia (folk priest) nalizes the dates of the jaat (journey), in which localities of nearby 40 villages take part. With folk drums, bhankaras (metallic pipe instrument) and neja (the ag of red cloth pieces collected from all the families of the villages) the jaat goes to Barmano, which is 6 Kms from Khela.

Trek Route: Haldwani / Tanakpur - Tawaghat - Pikhu - Talagarh - Pataudkund - Girchi - Durku

Day 1: Haldwani to Dharchula

Arrive at Haldwani / Kathgodam by overnight train/bus. After breakfast drive to Dharchula via many scenic places in Kumaon Region. Enroute visit Swami Narayan Ashram at Narayan Nagar (The Ashram was established by ahermit and a social worker Narayan Swami ji. The ashram survives through donations from various 3/10 institutions and individuals). Overnight stay in Hotel at Dharchula , here the tourists are briefed about the Chiplakedar trek.

Day 2: Dharchula - Tawaghat (Drive: 19 kms)

Bunga (Trek: 5 kms) After breakfast drive to Tawaghat (19 kms). From there start the trek of 5 kms to Bunga (camping ground) en-route village Khela. Overnight camping in Bunga Village.

Day 3: Bunga to Pikhu (Trek: 10 kms)

After breakfast to trek 10 kms to Pinkhu (Tilargarhi) at an altitude of 12,000 ft. Overnight stay at camps.

Day 4: Pinkhu - Talagarh (Trek: 8 kms)

After breakfast trek 8 kms to Talagarh at an altitude of 14,000 ft. Enroute visit Brahmkund (12,500 ft. known as residence of Lord Brahma, the State Flower of Uttarakhand 'BrahmaKamal' is found here). Overnight stay at camps in Talagarh.

Day 5: Talagarh - Pataudkund (Trek: 10 kms)

After breakfast trek 10 kms to reach Pataudkund located at an altitude of 16,000 ft. Enroute you can explore Sindwari (15,500 ft.), ChiplaKund (14,500 ft. known for rich herbs), Kakraulkund (15,000 ft. the land of Harchan and Sirchan Dev), Jauly (15,500 ft. known for sitting of all lords). Pataudkund is a lake, and known as residence of lord Patau Devta. Overnight stay in camps.

Day 6: Pataudkund - Girchi (Trek: 12 kms)

Day 7: Girchi - Durku (Trek: 10 kms)

After breakfast, trek 10 kms to reach Duku enroute explore Tilandili (known for paying homage to ancestors). The trek gives you an opportunity to explore the dense forests (Himalayan wild animals are found here). Camp overnight at Duku.

Day 8: Duku - Haldwani

After breakfast drive to Haldwani Via Pithoragarh . Pithoragarh is known a miniature Kashmir, its a beautiful Valley, and District headquarter. Enroute Haldwani, if time permits you can visit Bhimtal , Nainital , Ramgarh , Mukteshwar. Tour concludes on reaching Haldwani

Kailash Mansarovar

The Kailash Range is a supreme peak, the 6,638-meter-high Mount Kailash was formed of shining granite with its white glacial crest, was already a huge, structure even when the Himalayas were just beginning to protrude out of the Tethys Sea. The mountain is located near lake manasrovar and lake rakshastal close to the source of some of the longest asian rivers: the Indus, Sutlej, Brahmaputra, and Karnali also known as Ghaghara (a tributary of the Ganges) in India. Mount Kailash is considered to be sacred in four religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Tibetan/Bon. In Hinduism, it is traditionally recognized as the abode of Shiva, who resided there along with his consort goddess Parvati and their children, Ganesha and Kartikeya. According to jain scriptures, Ashtapada is the site where the first Jain Tirthankara, Rishabh deva attained moksha(liberation). Mount Kailash is known as Mount Meru in Buddhist texts. It is central to its cosmology, and a major pilgrimage site for some Buddhist traditions. Bön a religion native to Tibet, maintain that the entire mystical region and Kailash, which they call the "nine-story Swastika Mountain", is the axis mundi, Tagzig Olmo Lung Ring. Every year, thousands make a pilgrimage to Kailash, following a tradition going back thousands of years. Pilgrims of several religions believe that circumambulation Mount Kailash on foot is a holy ritual that will bring good fortune.

The most sacred peak in the Himalayan range, Mount Kailash, is said to have been formed 30 million years ago during the early stages of the formation of the Himalayan ranges. For Hindus, it is considered as the residence of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. According to the Jains, at the dawn of history their first law giver, Rishabhdev attained Nirvana on Mount Kailash. It is home of Buddha Demchok according to Buddhists, the spiritual seat of power per Bon followers.

Mount Kailash is situated in Tibet where it is also known as "Kang Rampoche" meaning 'Precious Jewel' .People have been visiting Kailash - Mansarovar for centuries and almost all the major passes of Uttarakhand lead to Kailas-Mansarovar. Because of the Indo- Chinese border dispute, Indians were not allowed to visit Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake for nearly two decades. However, since 1981, Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam has been conducting trips to Kailas- Mansarovar through the Lipulekh pass

: The tour starts from Delhi to Kailash Mansarovar, mostly on vehicle.From Tanakpur or Kathgodam one can reach Kailash Mansarovar via Dharchula - Tawaghat - Lipulekh Darma and Johar valleys. The route through Lipulekh Pass (Uttarakhand), which involves some trekking. The duration of the Yatra from Kumaon is 24 days.

The best time to visit Kailash Mansarovar is during the summers and monsoon season generally from May to mid-October. It is the ideal time for outdoor activities, trekking, pilgrimage and also for visiting nearby tourist attractions. Saga Dawa Festival, a Tibetan Buddhist festival, is also conducted during this time
